Ah, Royal Mail. Now thats a company that gets my blood boiling! . Can we take a moment to talk about how woefully inadequate their service has been recently? I mean, I've been waiting a week for a delivery from a certain popular department store... a department store that, for some inexplicable reason, seems hell-bent on using Royal Mail for their deliveries.

Every time I see that dreaded 'your parcel is being shipped via Royal Mail' notification, I know I'm in for a long wait. And it's not just a one-off thing either. It's time and time again, like some wretched groundhog day of late deliveries and lost parcels.

From a business perspective, I've had my fair share of horror stories as well. There were times I used to run a small business and would use Royal Mail to dispatch my products. But guess what? Either I'd have to handle a barrage of angry complaints about delayed deliveries, or products would mysteriously vanish into thin air. And that's not even the worst part. On top of all that, I've found myself slapped with arbitrary fines, accusing me of trying to pass off parcels as large letters. As if! None of my products ever came close to the size of a parcel. It felt like they were making stuff up just to squeeze more money out of me. And to add insult to injury, their prices kept skyrocketing, taking a huge bite out of my profits for their subpar service. Needless to say, I have washed my hands of them once and for all.

So how did we get here? Well, Royal Mail has an unhealthy monopoly on postal services. This is thanks in part to some questionable decisions by the government when it was set up. This monopoly has stifled competition and left both small businesses and consumers at the mercy of Royal Mail's substandard service.

Then, to make matters worse, the Tories sold off this monopoly to foreign investors so Lord Cameron (a title he certainly doesn't deserve in my humble opinion) could make a quick buck.

And the result? An even worse service. As Royal Mail's standards continue to slip, it's opening the door for other dubious monopolies like Prime Delivery, which has its own litany of problems... but that's a rant for another day.

So, if you've experienced the same frustrations with Royal Mail, let's make some noise! Comment below and let's start a movement to pressure the government to address this issue. We deserve better than this. We shouldn't have to put up with such a shoddy service!
