    I know nothing about town planning (you might say obviously) but we need a new way forward, so that towns are not charity shops and building societies peppered in posher areas with coffee bars and restaurants.

  • I agree with your opinion, but no labs?? I might not work in a virology lab, but I’d like to think that having some experience I can be quickly trained on a variety of analysers, just as my colleagues round the country could. Locally we offered to do so. Perhaps the Carter report and his view you centralise everything has suddenly become outdated.

    No. It’s a political trap, a hostage to fortune and serves no practical purpose. The public doesn’t care what the exit strategy is, it cares when it is, and there is probably more informed interest near term in seeing how it goes for Austria, Denmark and Spain.

  • The numbers are huge though. To get to herd immunity, if the 60% of 60m have to get it, then we are looking at 500,000 deaths. Dripping them through the NHS even at 1000 a day is 500 days. Even 350,000 would take us past Christmas and I think we’d run out of NHS staff pretty quickly if this keeps going for long.
